I know a lot of folks who enjoy biking as a hobby and some even use it as a means of short travel. I get the question all the time of will it burn fat from your thigh area. Cycling for exercise burns approximately 400 calories an hour.

Although it does make heavy use of your legs and glute muscles it is not a targeted exercise to burn thigh fat.

In fact, in most cases it will accomplish the opposite effect by turning the fat that is burned into muscle often making the area bigger. Biking is better for muscle toning more than fat reduction.

The calories burned from the cardio work done will result in fat loss throughout the whole body not specifically just the thigh area. The best way to actually burn the fat from around your thigh area is to change your diet and work out regularly.
